Distribute sends a finished post to every platform you have connected, so you do not post the same thing five times by hand. When your update has been turned into posts, open Distribute, pick the post you want, and it goes out to your connected places together and stays consistent. Nothing posts itself — you click Post, and you see exactly what will go where first. Use it when you are ready to share a launch or update everywhere in one go. If you have not connected a platform yet, Distribute points you to Settings to add one. Distribute can also put a shipped list on your GitHub profile and link your public build log, so your progress shows up where people already look.
