Add GetFoxChat to your Google Tag Manager site

The line to add

Yours has your own site ID in place of YOUR_SITE_ID.

On Google Tag Manager, this is what goes in :

Add GetFoxChat to Google Tag Manager, step by step

1. In GetFoxChat, open the install step for your site and copy your snippet. It already has your site ID in it. No account yet? Create one free.
2. In Tag Manager, click Tags, then New. source
3. Click Tag Configuration and select Custom HTML. source
4. Paste the GetFoxChat line into the HTML field and replace YOUR_SITE_ID with your site ID. source
5. Click Triggering and add a page view trigger that fires on all page views, for example a new DOM Ready trigger left on its default of all events. source
6. Save the tag, click Preview to check that it fires on your site, then click Submit and Publish. source
7. Back in GetFoxChat, press Check my site. The chat switches on once GetFoxChat finds the snippet on your live pages.

Google Tag Manager gotchas

• Nothing reaches your visitors until you publish the container; saving the tag is not enough. source
• Preview mode shows the draft only in your own browser, so use it to confirm the tag fires before you publish. source
• Tag Manager minifies Custom HTML and can swap single quotes for double quotes, so paste the line as given. source
• A tag needs at least one trigger or it never fires. source

Removing it later

Delete the GetFoxChat Custom HTML tag in Tag Manager, then click Submit and Publish again.
