Add GetFoxChat to your Docusaurus site

The line to add

Yours has your own site ID in place of YOUR_SITE_ID.

On Docusaurus, this is what goes in docusaurus.config.js:

Add GetFoxChat to Docusaurus, step by step

1. In GetFoxChat, open the install step for your site and copy your snippet. It already has your site ID in it. No account yet? Create one free.
2. Open docusaurus.config.js in the root of your site. source
3. Add a scripts array to the exported config (or extend the one you have). source
4. Add an object with src: 'https://getfoxchat.com/widget.js', 'data-site-id': 'YOUR_SITE_ID' and defer: true, and replace YOUR_SITE_ID with your site ID. source
5. Rebuild and redeploy the site.
6. Back in GetFoxChat, press Check my site. The chat switches on once GetFoxChat finds the snippet on your live pages.

Docusaurus gotchas

• Scripts in this array are render-blocking unless you add defer: true (or async: true), so keep defer: true. source
• Use the object form, not a plain string, so the data-site-id attribute can be set. source
• Docusaurus puts these tags in the head, not before </body>; with defer that is fine. source

Removing it later

Delete the GetFoxChat object from the scripts array in docusaurus.config.js, then rebuild and redeploy.
