What the chat operator does on your WordPress site
- It learns your site from its public pages: pages, posts, and product pages if you run a WooCommerce shop. It finds them through your sitemap and the links on your homepage.
- It answers visitors in a chat bubble on every page, from what those pages say. Visitors ask things like:
“Do you offer this service in my area?”“What are your opening hours?”“Where do I find your returns policy?”
- It points to the page that has the answer, and when that link is on the page the visitor is looking at, it highlights it.
- Asked how to reach you, it gives the phone number, email or contact page from your own pages.
- When your pages don't have the answer, it says so and passes the conversation to you instead of guessing.
- Asked whether it is a person, it says it is an AI assistant.
- You give it the name and avatar you like; your visitors see that name, not ours.
It answers from your public pages and posts. It does not read your WordPress admin, drafts or private pages; when a visitor needs something only you know, it hands the conversation to you.
See it on your WordPress site first
Type your site's address. GetFoxChat reads your public pages and opens a preview of the operator answering from them. No account, nothing to install.

Put it on your WordPress site: about two minutes
It is one line of code that goes on every page. WordPress has no built-in box for site-wide code, so the steps use the free WPCode plugin from WordPress.org to hold the one line. There is no GetFoxChat plugin to install.
Before you start: You need to be an Administrator. On WordPress.com, adding plugins needs a paid plan that allows plugins.
- Create your free GetFoxChat account at getfoxchat.com/register and add your WordPress site's address. The install step shows your snippet with your site ID already in it, and a Copy button.
- In your WordPress admin, click Plugins in the left menu, then Add New Plugin.
- Search for "WPCode". Click Install Now on "WPCode – Insert Headers and Footers + Custom Code Snippets", then click Activate.
- In the left menu, click Code Snippets, then Header & Footer.
- Paste the snippet into the Footer box.
- Click Save Changes. Open your site in a new tab to check it loads.
- Back in GetFoxChat, press Check my site. The chat switches on once GetFoxChat finds the snippet on your site.
Already use a theme with its own "footer scripts" or "custom code" box? You can paste the snippet there instead and save.

Someone else runs your site? In GetFoxChat, press Send the code to my web person: it opens an email in your own email app with the snippet and a no-login guide link. WordPress's own help page: WPCode on WordPress.org.
