Add GetFoxChat to your Ghost site

The line to add

Yours has your own site ID in place of YOUR_SITE_ID.

Add GetFoxChat to Ghost, step by step

1. In GetFoxChat, open the install step for your site and copy your snippet. It already has your site ID in it. No account yet? Create one free.
2. Sign in to Ghost Admin and open Settings. source
3. Go to Advanced, then Code Injection. source
4. Paste the GetFoxChat line into the Site Footer box, since Ghost advises putting scripts in the Site Footer. source
5. Click Save.
6. Open your live site in a new tab and check that the chat bubble shows on any page. source
7. Back in GetFoxChat, press Check my site. The chat switches on once GetFoxChat finds the snippet on your live pages.

Ghost gotchas

• Use the Site Footer box, not the Site Header box, for scripts. The footer code lands just before the closing body tag. source
• The editor also has code injection for a single post or page. Code put there only runs on that one post, so use the site-wide Code Injection settings instead. source
• Code injection adds to every page without editing theme files, so switching themes later does not remove the snippet. source

Removing it later

Go back to Settings, Advanced, Code Injection, delete the GetFoxChat line from the Site Footer box, and click Save.

Current Ghost Admin path is Settings, Advanced, Code Injection (the older tutorial says Settings, Code Injection). Ghost docs fetched do not state a plan limit for site-wide code injection, so no plan requirement is claimed.
