Add GetFoxChat to your WordPress.com site

Install the free WPCode plugin and paste the snippet into its Footer section (Code Snippets, then Header & Footer), which adds it before the closing </body> tag on every page. The line loads the GetFoxChat chat bubble on every page, and the operator behind it answers your visitors from your own public pages.

Before you start: Your site needs a paid WordPress.com plan (Personal, Premium, Business or Commerce) so you can install plugins, with hosting features activated. Free sites have to upgrade first. source

Yours has your own site ID in place of YOUR_SITE_ID.

Add GetFoxChat to WordPress.com, step by step

In GetFoxChat, open the install step for your site and copy your snippet. It already has your site ID in it. No account yet? Create one free.
Visit your site's WP Admin dashboard and click Plugins on the left. source
Click the Add New Plugin button near the top of the page and search for WPCode. source
Click the plugin name, then Install now. When it finishes, click Activate. source
In the left menu, go to Code Snippets, then Header & Footer. source
Paste the snippet into the Footer section and click Save Changes. source
Open your site in a new tab to check the chat bubble appears.
Back in GetFoxChat, press Check my site. The chat switches on once GetFoxChat finds the snippet on your live pages.

WordPress.com gotchas

On a free WordPress.com site there is no way to add a script; you must upgrade to a plan that allows plugins. source
Scripts only run on sites with a plugin-enabled plan and activated hosting features. source
The snippet only loads while WPCode is active. Deactivating the plugin stops it. source

Removing it later

Go to Code Snippets, then Header & Footer, delete the GetFoxChat line from the Footer section and click Save Changes.

WordPress.com (checked page last reviewed September 29, 2026) now allows plugins on all paid plans, Personal and up, not only Business. The page has two admin styles; the steps follow the WP Admin tab (Add New Plugin, Install now, Activate). The other style says Install and activate on the Plugins page. The old URL wordpress.com/support/adding-code-to-your-site/ is 404; custom code is covered at wordpress.com/support/code/.
