Add GetFoxChat to your Wix site

Easiest: the GetFoxChat app for Wix

Add the GetFoxChat app to your Wix site. It reads your published pages, lets you try the chat in your dashboard, and puts it on your live site once you start your free month. No code to paste and no Premium plan needed for the app itself.

1. In your site's editor, click Add Apps, search for GetFoxChat, click +Add to Site, then click Allow and Add. source
2. The GetFoxChat page opens in your site's dashboard. Press Read my site: it reads your published pages and lists them as it goes. Nothing is added to your live site yet.
3. Ask it something about your site in the box on the same page, to see it answer from your own pages.
4. Press Start my free month. Wix's own plan page opens in a new tab; choose your plan there. Plans are on the GetFoxChat pricing page.
5. Back on the GetFoxChat page, the chat turns on on your live site by itself. It starts with a default name and avatar; change both under See conversations and settings.
6. Later, Turn off hides the chat on your live site, Change plan opens your plan on Wix, and See conversations and settings opens your conversations in GetFoxChat.

Yours has your own site ID in place of YOUR_SITE_ID.

How do you add GetFoxChat to Wix, step by step?

1. In GetFoxChat, open the install step for your site and copy your snippet. It already has your site ID in it. No account yet? Create one free.
2. Go to Settings in your site's dashboard. source
3. Click Custom Code in the Development & integrations section. source
4. Click + Add Custom Code at the top right. source
5. Paste the snippet in the text box and enter a name you will recognize, such as GetFoxChat. source
6. Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages, then choose whether to load the code once per visit or on each page your visitor opens. source
7. Under Place Code in, choose Body - end. source
8. Click Apply. source
9. Back in GetFoxChat, press Check my site. The chat switches on once GetFoxChat finds the snippet on your live pages.

Wix gotchas

• Custom code is tied to your domain. If you assign a different domain to the site, Wix deletes your snippets and you need to add GetFoxChat again. source
• Code only runs on the published site with a connected domain, not on a free Wix address. source
• If something breaks, turn each snippet's toggle off one at a time in Custom Code to find which one is causing it. source

How do you remove it later?

Go to Settings, then Custom Code, and delete the GetFoxChat snippet (or switch its toggle off).
